Boredom

November 30, 2008

Who said a blog has to be in words anyways?

I was bored this evening and decided to draw something for fun. The result? This:

church

It took about 30 minutes, pretty good for a sketch. I’m going to find a way to scan my sketchbook somehow, some drawings in there are better than this one.
Ok, back to working on my story. xD

Fantasy story, part 2

November 27, 2008

“Oh how I wish I have a flashlight with me right now.”

I thought to myself as I take a look at the forest up close for the first time. Well, I couldn’t actually see anything in the forest except for trees and thick vines. It look so dark and gloomy compared to the bright and sunny meadow outside and at that moment I knew I was in for bad news. I was scared now, bullets of sweat dripped from my forehead. B-thump, b-thump, my heart quickened. If talking goats and trees exist, there’s a huge possibility that something or someone magical is lurking behind the immense darkness of the forest. What if there are not one, but actually many creatures? And what if they are evil and dangerous? B-thumpthumpthump, my heart pounded on my ribcage so hard it hurt.

Hundreds and hundreds of questions filled my mind, and I decided that I don’t really know how to get home. I knew that I must find a guy and get more instructions but I was clueless on how long my journey will truly be. A flood of panic washed over me.

Somewhere deep in the forest, what seemed to be an owl hooted.

Oh right, the forest. Ok, I’m going to be ok. I’ll just run as fast as I can through the forest and will not look back. Yeah that’s it. Too late to regret not being the fastest runner out there. I thought grimly to myself while trying to brace for what will happen next. I wanted to relax myself somehow but realized that my pitiful attempts will probably be in vain. Instead, I focused on breathing and finding every bit of bravery I’ve got.

I held my breath as I took my first step into the forest. The dead leaves crunched noisily under the weight of my foot and I was startled. Dry leaves, those are dry leaves, nothing more. After what seemed to be a hundred of crunches later, my eyes finally adjusted. I can make out the shapes of the trees now, and that made me less afraid.

After what seemed to be 20 minutes of walking, I felt like I was being watched. I started to sweat and decided to make a run for it. Pretty soon, everything around me was a big blur and all I can feel was the wind. It was exhilarating to run and just leave everything behind, even your fears. Well, my run was impressive until I tripped on a root and stubbed my toes.

“Oww…Note to self: don’t run in the dark anymore.” I muttered as I propped myself up from the ground. My jeans and shoes probably need a good washing. My mom is going to be really mad when she found out that I ruined the clothes she just bought last week. I groaned at the thought of my family. I missed it so much.

I stood up clumsily and looked around to see what part of the forest I was in. My eyes were drawn almost instantly to the opening up ahead. There were still a lot of trees, but I can tell the way out because the forest was getting brighter. A way out, my head shouted happily, a way home. I picked up my pace and ran toward the bright light. Soon, I can see a small town up ahead. I can’t help but smile as I take a good look at the town and its people.

“Alyea…” I whispered.

Whoohoo, second part of the story is finally out. Sorry if it took too long, I keep running out of ideas how to do the forest scene. I wanted to be scary, but not horrific. I hope I got it right.

Thanksgiving!

November 26, 2008

It’s not quite yet thanksgiving but you can already feel people’s appreciation toward each others already…

At first period, my teacher passed out latkes (a type of potato pancake) for each of us. When I got mine, it was still warm.

Today at lunch, my friend was passing out bags of M&Ms to us as a way of thanking us for being there for her. It was a little bag of gift, but it made our day.

My English teacher said that she was grateful to work with our class and let us watched a movie for the whole period.

We had a mini Thanksgiving Pre-party in Art class. I spent the whole day munching on homemade pumpkin cookies and watched the teacher draw out a Thanksgiving feast. Her turkey and mashed potatoes drawing made me hungry.

While waiting for my dad to pick me up, I looked at my friends, the school, the scenery, and smiled.

I gave my mom a hug today and she wondered what I was up to.

Books

November 21, 2008

Oh gosh I’m such an addict.

I’ve read the whole Harry Potter series and watched all the movies so far but now I feel like doing it again.

For the THIRD time! >_<

Yeah, the series is really addicting. Usually I don’t reread my books that often. I usually treat a book as a one time thing and move on with other books. I guess that’s why there’s so little book around my house that I actually bought. The rest is from the library. xD

Haha, talk about library, my parents complain that I go there too much. Usually, I go to the library once a week, but if it’s the break or something, I could take up to 3-4 trips a week. I read moderately fast, but once I get started, I usually don’t put a book down until it’s finished. Heck, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows took me from 9 AM to 6 PM to finish, with no break in between. By the end of the book, I was happy but exhausted and hungry! Yeah, I didn’t realize the fact that my eyes hurt and I was practically starving until I finished reading. I guess you can call that unhealthy reading.

Books read last week:

Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury

The Giver by Lois Lowry

and To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee

Ok, so I was thinking of reading some new books after the Harry Potter series, care to suggest some? I’m looking for something not too confusing and is suitable for light reading. (about 300-500 pages, I’m going easy on my eyes this time around) The genre I usually read is fantasy fiction.

Thanks guys

November 18, 2008

I feel much better now. Not in tip top shape just yet, but I managed to catch up with my homework. Sorry because this “update” is short, but I have to go back to cramming for the test on Friday.

Choco caught the cold~

November 14, 2008

Ahhh, I feel so horrible right now. I got the cold on Tuesday and I had to skip school on Wednesday because of a high fever. Right now I’m still sick with a lot of coughing. My throat hurt and those medicine barely helped. I’m sleepy most of the time now, and I keep getting these annoying headache. My mom said sleep helps, but I can’t fall asleep because of my stuffed nose. Every time my nose get stuffy, I breathe through my mouth, and everytime I does that, I start coughing! Food tastes horrible now. I can’t smell and there’s this bitter taste in my mouth, so annoying! I think I’m losing my voice too. :[

Sleep supposedly help, but all I got afterward is a massive headache and stiffness all over my body every time I wake up. Oh and there’s this huge pile of homework that’s due Monday. My teacher was kind enough to give an extension, but the work is piling up too much now. This cold sucks. I will probably spend the whole weekend sleeping and doing my homework. That just totally ruined my plan of typing up one of my conversation with my friend and a few parts to my story.

Well, I got to go now. The cough is getting worse. I need to drink my cough medicine and sleep. I bet tomorrow I have to eat chicken soup and drink lemonade again.

Story: Fantasy adventure

November 9, 2008

I woke up with the wind gently caressing my face. Funny, Mom must have turned on the fan or something. Wait, why would she does that in the middle of winter? I rolled around a bit. The bed felt so uncomfortable and itchy. After much rolling around, I decided I was awake and opened my eyes. Ahh, what a beautiful morning. The sky had such a pretty shade of blue. Oh wait, since when I can see the sky from my bed? Where did the ceiling go? I look around in confusion and realized I’ve been sleeping on a grassy hilltop. I quickly stood up. Oh man mom is going to be so mad when she sees the grass stain. Mom? She was nowhere around. I suddenly realized that I was alone.

Panicking now, I tried to find a way home. Grass. Grass. Trees. Trees. More grass. Running out of breath, I finally accepted the fact that I was lost. This dream was slowly turning into a nightmare and I want to get out of it. I sat down, wondering what to do. A small sheep suddenly passed by and I felt comforted by the company. “Hey sheep,” I said while stroking its wool, “Are you lost too?”

“Hands off the wool please. I just got it brushed this morning…and no you idiot, I’m not lost.” The sheep scowled.

I was shocked to see a sheep talked and pulled my hand back in a flash. “Uhh…You talk?” was all I can pulled out at that moment.

“Of course I can! What am I? A mute? Jeez, children nowadays are SO RUDE!”

The sheep was practically shouting now so I decided to back away just to be safe. It’s funny how I’m scared of a sheep. Well, in this strange land, you’ll never know. At any moment, the sheep might pull out a weapon or something. Especially ones with bad temper.

“Hey, hey. You still listening? Gosh…rude I tell you. RUDE!” The sheep looks mad. Very mad.

“Umm…Can you tell me the way home?” I asked, trying to be as nicest as I could.

“NO! I have nothing to give you, you ungrateful child. GO AWAY!”

Deciding that it was hopeless to argue with a talking sheep, I took its advice and walked away. After awhile, I stumbled upon a shady tree. It was a good place to rest, so I decided to sit down under its shade and just try to take all the stuff that happened today in. My peaceful rest was interrupted by a voice, much kinder this time.

“Oh my…What is this? A tired traveler I presume?” The voice seemed to be coming from the tree I was leaning on.

“Yes,” I answered, smiling a little. Well no surprise there. If a sheep can talk, so can a tree.

“You know,” the tree said, “I don’t have much company nowadays. What brings you here, young one?”

I spent sometimes explaining about my current situation. The tree seemed to be very interested in stories, especially those from faraway lands. “Hmm, finding the way home can be hard indeed. This world is much too vast to be lost alone…but do not fret my child, I do know a way.”

I was so happy when I heard that. Oh how I wish I can be at home right now, just idling in my couch watching TV or surfing the web. “Really? You can? How?” I tried to get all of that out really quickly, excited to know the way home.

“Mmm…Let me see. If you go past that forest over there,” he extended his heavy branches toward the forest north of where we are at, “you will reach a town called Alyea. There, you will have to seek out the barkeeper named Jiad. He will tell you further instructions on how to get home.” He paused a bit, hesitating. “Be careful, little one. Be very wary of the creatures that lurks in the forest. They can harm you. Now, go on…you have a long way home, perhaps even a perilous one.”

I thanked him and glanced toward the dark forest. The direction where my journey will begin.

Wheew..I finalled finished the first part of my fantasy story! :3 More will be coming later in the week. I need more inspiration. xD

Work, work, and more work!

November 9, 2008

This is the time to finally regret my lack of planning skills.

I’m so busy with homework nowadays. It seems like every time I finish an assignment, two pops up in its place! I barely have time just to check my e-mails now, let alone actually updating my blog. *Sigh* I need a long break. Well, the four-day weekend I have should let me catch up on things…for now.

Hey, guess what I’m doing in PE? Football. Me = bad hand-eye coordination + slow reflexes. Lol, should be fun. Hopefully everybody on my team will avoid throwing the ball to me. Well, it’ll be only 3 weeks, I can stand that.

Good news: My artwork is good enough to be featured for the whole week in the Freshman hallway. xD Yep, for the whole week I can point out to random people that I drew the picture on the wall. Oh yeah, I finally got in touch with my friend back in middle school! We are spamming eachothers with e-mails now, and there are still lots of things left to say.

Oh yeah and one more thing: I’ll post another conversation of my friend and I soon. Expect more randomness guys, it’s what I live for. x3
